What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, energy-based healing practice that supports emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being—especially valuable during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. As part of my doula services, Reiki can be woven into your care to offer calm, comfort, and grounding throughout your journey into parenthood.
Originating in Japan, Reiki (pronounced ray-key) means “universal life energy.” It involves light, intentional touch—or hands held just above the body—to help reduce stress, promote relaxation, and support the body’s natural healing processes. Reiki is completely non-invasive and safe during all stages of pregnancy and postpartum.
During pregnancy, Reiki can help ease physical discomfort, reduce anxiety, support better sleep, and provide emotional balance as your body and life transform.
During labor and birth, Reiki may be used to create a calming atmosphere, reduce fear or tension, and help you stay connected to your breath and inner strength. It can be a grounding, supportive tool alongside physical comfort techniques.
In postpartum care, Reiki offers gentle support as your body heals, your hormones adjust, and you begin the transition into life with your new baby. It’s also a nurturing space for emotional release and renewal.
Whether you're seeking relief, rest, or reconnection, Reiki provides a soft place to land. You are already powerful—Reiki simply helps you return to that truth.
